I am a full professor at the École de Technologie Supérieure (ÉTS), Montréal, Canada, in the Department of Software and IT Engineering. Before joining ÉTS, I was a full professor of computer engineering at the Pontifical Catholic University of Paraná (PUCPR), Curitiba, Brazil (2003-2015) and an associate professor of electrical engineering at Federal University of Paraná (UFPR), Curitiba, Brazil (2009-2015). I am co-founder, former CEO and senior research scientist of InviSys Machine Vision Ltd., Colombo, Brazil (2004-). I was also a visiting professor/researcher at the Center for Language and Speech Processing, The Whiting School of Engineering, Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, USA (2023-2024), a Fullbright visiting scholar at the Department of Electrical Engineering, Columbia University, New York, USA (2013), and a visiting researcher at the Telecommunications and Multimedia Unit, Institute for Systems and Computer Engineering of Porto (INESC-Porto) and the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto, Portugal (2009-2012).
